Hyundai Elantra: More Than Just Compact
Don’t be fooled by the word “compact,” the award-winning Hyundai Elantra sedans have grown roomier, more substantial, and more fuel efficient. The Hyundai Elantra is an excellent compact car that’s also one of the more affordable cars in its class. With a stylish, athletic look, the Elantra easily outshines its opponents.

Want to stay connected, but still drive in style? The Hyundai Elantra is packed with features from inside and out. If you’re concerned about inside features such as technology or safety, the Elantra has you covered with numerous interior features. With an extensive list of trims and body styles, you can truly customize this vehicle to make it your own.

The New 2018 Hyundai Elantra
With its attractive looks and plentiful options, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra is a force to be reckoned with. Its refined and fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines pair with either a manual or automatic transmission.

The 2018 trim options are extensive and include the SE, SL, Value Edition, Eco, Sport, and Limited. The base SE trim comes with 15-inch steel wheels, while the SEL trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels. The Value Edition adds even more features by including a power sunroof, LED daytime running lights, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

The Eco model offers the same features as the Value Edition, but rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and is powered by a more fuel-efficient 1.4-liter turbo-four engine. The Sport model adds even more power with a 1/6-liter turbo-four engine, while also adding sport-inspired features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, an independent rear suspension, larger front brakes, LED taillights, and more.

Even more impressive is the Elantra Limited. Powered by a 2.0 liter I-4 and adding more luxury, the Limited includes 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seating, Blue Link Connected Car and Remote services, chrome beltline molding and two USB ports.

You can also go the Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback route by choosing the Elantra GT or the Elantra GT Sport. As for safety, the Hyundai Elantra sedan and GT hatchback both received a four-star overall safety rating out of five stars from the NHTSA and are considered 2018 Top Safety Picks from the IIHS.

A Brief History of the Hyundai Elantra
The first generation Hyundai Elantra was introduced in 1990 and stayed in production until 1995. The Elantra first appeared in the United States for the 1992 model year. It first debuted as a four-door compact car featuring Mitsubishi engine power. The second generation Elantra appeared in 1995 as a 1996 model. In addition to the sedan body style, this version was now available as a wagon.

From 2000 to 2006, the third generation of the Hyundai Elantra saw some more changes and for 2001, the Elantra sported an all-new look with a 2001 Elantra GT hatchback replacing the wagon version of the vehicle. The fourth generation appeared only for the 2007 model year with Hyundai replacing the Elantra GT with the Elantra Touring.

As for the fifth generation of the Hyundai Elantra which appeared in 2011, there were several dramatic changes. The style of the exterior changed, as well as a much-improved interior. In 2012, the Elantra developed a sophisticated compact sedan appearance and came with a revised powertrain. With each new generation, the Hyundai Elantra has continued to improve.
