A History of the Hyundai Sonata
The first-generation Sonata was introduced in 1985 and arrived in the United States for the 1989 model year. Since then, the Sonata has undergone many changes. Through second, third, and fourth generations, the Sonata changed greatly, primarily in style. Even still, the Sonata never lost appeal.
Due to the fifth generation’s European style and the sixth generation’s new design, Sonatas received even more changes – including a face lift. In 2011, Hyundai introduced a Sonata Hybrid model to the world. In 2015, Hyundai launched its seventh generation which included plug-in and plug-in hybrid models. Once again, the Sonata was redesigned. One thing’s for sure: The Hyundai Sonata knows how to stay up to date and change with the times.
