First Look: All-New 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT

Since its reveal a couple of months ago, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe has created much anticipation in the automotive industry. With a bold new boxy design and increased interior space, the SANTA FE takes the SUV segment in a completely new direction.  Release day is still months away, but Hyundai has granted us a sneak peek at the SANTA FE XRT trim at the L.A. Auto Show. Here’s what we know so far! 

SANTA FE XRT: Elevating Off-Road Capabilities

It used to be that Hyundai XRT trims were simple cosmetic upgrades. This changes with the XRT however. The XRT trim, inspired by the XRT Concept, takes off-roading to new heights with trim-specific upgrades and features. The standout feature is the set of 30-inch Continental all-terrain tires, paired with distinctive dark-painted 18-inch wheels. This setup not only enhances the SANTA FE’s rugged aesthetic but also increases the ground clearance by an impressive 1.5 inches. The custom grille and subtle “XRT” branding on the rear remind us of the SANTA FE’s off-roadability, and the inclusion of roof rails and crossbars foreshadow many adventures to come.

Powerful Performance and Powertrains

Under the hood, the SANTA FE XRT is equipped with Hyundai’s robust 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 277 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Impressive indeed. If you plan on going on camping trips, the SANTA FE offers a substantial towing capacity of 4,500 pounds when outfitted with the towing package. For the eco-conscious, Hyundai has revised the SANTA FE‘s hybrid powertrain for the North American market, now producing a combined output of 232 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque from its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and electric motor. It’s unlikely that the hybrid engine will be an option for the XRT, but only time will tell.

Cutting-Edge Infotainment and Diverse Color Options

The SANTA FE will feature wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as a standard, addressing a gap in Hyundai’s previous trim lineups. An extensive color palette is also available, ranging from Phantom Black to Terracotta Orange, ensuring that every driver can find a color that suits their style. The interior color options like Obsidian Black and Forest Green further enhance the surprisingly luxurious interior of the SANTA FE. 

Concluding Thoughts

Hyundai isn’t known for their off-road vehicles, but the SANTA FE XRT hopes to change that image. With serious off-road upgrades and features, the all-new XRT isn’t just a cosmetic makeover, but a dedicated adventure vehicle.
